Thoughts from the ER

That's right folks! I said From the emergency room of the local hospital. At precisley 4pm on Friday my loving, hard working husband came home from work, threw up 3 times, and went strait to bed. He was hot, shivery, shakey, and couldn't hold down anything. At 1:20 am; yes, that's in the morning, Tim got up to go to 7-11 to get Pepto Bismal, and because 7-11 is two blocks away I thought he was okay to drive. I was asleep, I don't wake-up fast or well. 2:20 am Tim called me and said he was at the hospital. I awoke real @!?#&* quick, and couldn't get back to sleep. He let me know that there was nothing I could do at that point and that before they could proceed with anything they had to wait for the specialist to arrive at 7am. I was thinking at that point that Tim could have waited to wake me at that time, because I would have no idea that he was gone, but he felt thet need to let me know, so I went with it. Then he let me know that he would update me when the specialist arrived, and I could go back to sleep. Well, at that point I was really @!#&?* mad at the stupid man, and was in the process of telling him so, in my head, when I fell back to sleep. At 5am I was again woken up, but this time by the stupid alarm. So, because there was no getting back to sleep this time I started to call and leave as many messages on Tim's bosses phone as possible, because the dumb man who could run a slightly more successful buisness, had his phone off I decided to get a shower and call my mother to take the kids. I got ahold of Tim's boss at abought 7:45 and he in his infinate compassion to care of Tim's loads for the day ( He really is a good guy). At that point I decided to call Tim and let him know, but it seems in the absense of my voice the Doctor had arrived and with him the morphine; which made Tim alot nicer, but alot dumber.
I was really worried at that point, because Tim had not been able to tell me what had happened and what they where doing about it. He had also forgot to sign the paper that said that the doc could tell me the details. I ran the children up to my parents house, and then went down to the hospital, which is only 4 blocks away from our house. I checked for info, and when the receptionist said that they where in the middle of taking care of the problem and it would be a while before they could tell me anything, I decided to run get some breakfast and get a book from the Library, mostly because watching The Journey of Netty Gane does nothing for me. All this was at 9am.
At 10am I had eaten, gotten a book and was getting comfortable in the waiting room. At 11:30 they let me in to see Tim, who's eyes were dialated, and he was dopped up with the morphine. Turns out that the wonderful man I married was swallowing sunflower seeds whole, and gum, among a few other things, and if he hadn't gone into the ER when he did his bowels would have expoloded. That's right kiddies Don't swallow gum or sunflower seeds whole.
At about noon, I walked his butt out to the truck, and grabbed the kids, and took Tim home so he could crash. He slept for 5 or six hours, had some soup, slept for 2 more hours watched tv and then went to bed for the night.
Tim's birthday was the next day, and being the wonderful, sweet, kind, lovely, ect., ect., woman that he married I waited hand and foot on the poor man. Needless to say he had an awsome birthday.
Well that's it for this week, ant questions? or coments can be written to us at toenailtapper5@hotmail.com
